Organic skin care
Organic skin care products contain only organic ingredients.
The National Organic Program of the USDA or The National Organic Standard
of Canada certifies whether farmers' products meet or exceed their standards
for approval. To be certified as organic a farmer’s product must
meet a number of requirements. Some of the most popular organic skin
care products are cosmetics.
First, third party certifying agencies must regularly inspect farmers'
fields and processing facilities. The agencies keep records and periodically
test the soil, plants and water to make sure standards are met. Only
if these tests are passed can the farmers' products go into organic
skin care products.
Of course, organic skin care products cannot contain ingredients that
have been grown with synthetic chemicals, fertilizers, or pesticides.
In addition, farmers cannot use antibiotics on their plants. If any
livestock ingredients go into the organic skin care products, then only
100 percent organic feed can be used to nourish the animals.
